Fees
ALTHÉIA is committed to providing high-quality legal services with a transparent fee policy. We prioritise a relationship of trust with our clients, based on clear, precise information about our charges.
Billing principles
Our fees are determined by taking several factors into account, in accordance with Article 10 of French Law No. 71-1130 of 31 December 1971 and the National Rules of the French Legal Profession (Règlement Intérieur National), including:
- The complexity of the matter
- The time spent
- The lawyer’s experience and specialisation
- The client’s particular circumstances
- Expenses and disbursements incurred
- The outcome achieved or service provided
Fee agreement
In accordance with the applicable rules, a written fee agreement is drawn up before we begin work. It specifies how fees will be calculated and provides an estimate of the likely cost of our services.
Transparency
We keep you regularly informed of progress in your matter and the corresponding fees. You will be informed in advance of any significant change to the estimated cost.
Itemised billing
Our invoices are itemised and specify the work carried out, time spent and expenses incurred, allowing you to monitor the progress of your matter.
Fee arrangements
Depending on the nature of your matter, we may offer different fee arrangements:
Time-based fees
This arrangement is generally used for matters whose duration or complexity is difficult to predict. The hourly rate varies according to the nature and complexity of the matter and the experience of the lawyer handling it.
Fixed fees
For certain services whose scope and duration can be defined in advance, we offer a fixed fee agreed beforehand.
Subscription arrangements
For businesses requiring regular legal support, we offer subscription arrangements tailored to their specific needs.
Additional success fee
In some matters, an additional success fee may be agreed by reference to the outcome achieved, supplementing a base fee. The calculation method is precisely defined in the fee agreement.
Expenses and disbursements
Expenses and disbursements incurred in the client’s interests, including procedural costs, travel expenses and judicial enforcement officers’ fees, are charged in addition to our fees. These expenses are itemised in our invoices.
Payment terms
In accordance with usual practice, an advance payment is generally requested at the start of our engagement, followed by interim fee invoices as the matter progresses.
We offer several payment methods: bank transfer, cheque or cash within the limits permitted by law.
Fee disputes
If you disagree with the amount of the fees, you may refer the matter to the Bâtonnier, the head of the relevant French Bar, for a formal assessment of the fees.
Initial information appointment
ALTHÉIA offers an initial 30-minute information appointment for €125 excluding VAT. This amount will be deducted from our fees if the firm is subsequently instructed to handle your matter.
